Bihar sacks 175 police constables; suspends 23 officers
Patna: The Bihar Government sacked 175 police constables and suspends 23 police officials for rampaging in the city after the death of female colleague.
The deceased was reportedly denied leave despite being ill.
- On November 2, more than 300 police constables had gone on rampage.
- They also vandalised properties and attacked police officers after a woman colleague passed away as she was denied leave.
- Of the 175 police constables dismissed, most were trainees.
- The government also suspended 23 police officials, including havildars and assistant sub-inspectors.
After the constables went on a rampage, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar asked Bihar Police chief to submit detail report.
