Mumbai: Shiv Sena, on Monday, proposed the name of Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of BJP’s ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), as the President of India with Pranab Mukherjee’s term drawing to a close.
Speaking to reporters here, Shiv Sena MP and the executive editor of Saamna, Sanjay Raut said that somebody with a clean image like Mohan Bhagwat should be the President of India to make the country a complete ‘Hindutva Rashtra’.
He said, “If India has to be made a ‘Hindu Rashtra’, Bhagwat will be a good choice for President.”
Raut, however, clarified that one should come and meet Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray to gather support of the party.
It may be mentioned that the Narendra Modi government at the Centre likely is looking for a best fit candidate for the country’s highest post as President Pranab Mukherjee’s term will end in July.
