Itanagar: Leveling anti-party activities charge against incumbent Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and six other MLAs, the regional People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) suspended them on Thursday night.
Among the suspended are CM Khandu, deputy CM Chowna Mein, Jambey Tashi (Lumla), Passang Dorjee Sona (Mechuka), Chow Tewa Mein (Chowkham), Zingnu Namchom (Namsai) and Kamlung Mossang (Miao).
It is to be recalled that PPA had embraced Khandu and 42 other Congress lawmakers earlier in mid-September 2016.
PPA president Kafia Bengia, in an order issues on Thursday, announced that Pema Khandu has been removed as the Leader of the legislature party and have been barred from practicing any of the powers given to him as the leader of the legislature party.
PPA has also directed all its legislators not to attend any of the meetings called by Khandu saying that disciplinary action would be taken against anyone if found violating the order.
“We needed to take a call as these MLAs were indulged in anti-party activities. Soon, we will choose a new legislature party leader,” said Bengia to the reporters at Itanagar on Thursday late night.
Takam Pario is most likely to be named as Khandu’s replacement by PPA, said the sources. The regional party also conveyed its decision to the state assembly Speaker and Governor on Thursday evening.
