Lucknow: In the first reaction after his expulsion from the Samajwadi Party, Uttar Pradesh Chuief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday said party belonged to him.
“Some elements are misguiding my father and SP President Mulayam Singh Yadav. I assert the party belongs to me,”he said while his supporters gathered outside his official residence at 5 Kali Das Marg in Lucknow raising slogan in his favour.”
Akhilesh, however, hastened to add that Mulayam will remain his leader.
Earlier, Mulayam called an impromptu press conference to announce expulsion of Akhilesh and General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav from the party.
Soon after the announcement, the supporters of Akhilesh started pouring in at his residence where the tempers ran high. The supporters indulged in some vociferous slogan shouting expressing their allegiance to their leader. One of supporters even doused himself with kerosene and tries to set self afire but the police nabbed him. Some of them burnt the posters of state party president Shivpal Singh Yadav.
Several ministers, legislators and party activists made a beeline at 5, Kali Das Marg, the official residence of the UP CM. The next move of the CM was not immediately known.
