Rakesh Asthana and Alok Verma were sent on a forced leave after a bitter feud between them broke out in public. The government suspended both the officers on the basis of recommendation by Central Vigilance Commission.
"Had the probe been conducted, everything would have become crystal clear to the country. What was the fear? Using such might and removing somebody (Alok Verma) forcibly from his position is not good for the country. It will wreck the entire system," said Kejriwal.
However, Alok showed his dismay over his unceremonious removal from the CBI, in a letter to Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) . Alok Verma was shunted out as Chief of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after a marathon meeting of high-powered selection committee led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
There were eight counts of charges against him in the CVC report presented before the Committee also comprising Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and Justice A K Sikri, appointed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi as his nominee.
