The collegium’s recommendation for their elevation created controversy as Justice Khanna was 33rd in seniority of high court judges on an all-India basis and his elevation would amount to suppression of 32 other judges.

On December 21, Delhi High Court rejected Sajjan Kumar’s plea seeking more time to surrender. In his plea, the 73-year-old said that he has a big family that includes besides his wife, three children and eight grandchildren and he wants time to meet them all before surrendering.
