First time in History; UP DGP OP Singh gets charge of OSD in New Delhi
Lucknow: First time in the history, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police OP Singh has been given the charge of Officer on Special Duty (Chief Local Commissioner) in New Delhi.
Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, on Saturday, appointed OP Singh as the Officer on Special Duty.
It is to be mentioned that earlier the charge of OSD (Officer on Special Duty) was only given to IAS officers.
Singh, will also fulfil his responsibility as a DGP of UP.
Now, the question here arises that the one who has the responsibility to manage the law and order of Uttar Pradesh (the populous state of India) will be able to meet the expectations of public by carrying his new humongous responsibilities?
Principal Secretary of Chief Minister Shashi Prakash Goyal, Principal secretary and Chief Secretary of governor Hemant Rao and Anup Chandra Pandey respectively, were aware of this information.
According to the officers, UP DGP regularly visits Delhi and now his appointment to these posts will help in many ways.
Today, DGP has been given the charge of OSD and on the other hand the criminal activities in the state are increasing day by day.
We can not say that the criminals are threatened by police or not but their behaviour with the common people are making them scared.
Below are the list of incidents where police showed their power to the common people:
Meerut- A medical student was thrashed brutally by the police when he was detained.
Lucknow- A apple executive was shot dead by the cop.
Noida- A man returning from his sister’s marriage was shot dead by the sub-inspector.
There are many such incidents which have earned police department a bad name.
Interestingly, Police always aim the ‘knee’ of criminals to shoot them.
