Lucknow: An FIR has been lodged at the Gomti Nagar police station here against the former secretary of Badminton Association of India, Vijay Sinha and his son and former acting secretary Nishant Sinha, blaming them of molestation, sexual harassment, fraud, taking hostage and physically assaulting the players.
The complaint was made by the chief security officer of Babu Banarsi Das (BBD) Badminton Academy, Jung Bahadur Singh. “The decision to remove Vijay Sinha and his son from the posts of secretary and acting secretary of the association was taken in an association executive meeting on February 12,” he said.
“Several female players of BBD Badminton Academy had complained against the two blaming them of misusing their position for harassing them sexually and mentally. Nishant has also been blamed of charging money from the male players for no reason, and he was well supported by his father in it,” he added.
The matter was investigated by a probe team headed by a retired Judge who found all the charges made against the father-son duo authentic. The commission proposed to take legal action against them and subsequently, the report was registered on Monday evening.
Nishant, however, has rubbished the allegations saying that the executive meeting was held against the laws on instructions by a politician. “The players who have claimed to have been sexually harassed were excluded from the team in 2013 following their poor performance,” he said.
