Lucknow: India stands at the 7th place with 2.4% of the world’s area and second populous country with 17% of the world’s population i.e. 1.35 billion people. The increasing population of India has crossed its optimum limit and now is a subject of concern for us.
With increasing pressure on its resources and opportunities, India is witnessing the consequences of not taking any major step in this regard.
Shockingly, India constitutes 1/3 area of the United States with its 1.35 billion population forced to live with just 4 per cent of total fresh water in the world.
Here are some appalling statistics to understand this grieving situation:
India is denser than China in terms of population
Population density of India is 440.29 persons per square km compare to 148.81 of China. That makes India 2.96 times denser in comparison to China.
In next slide: India constitutes about 37 per cent of world’s population
