Saudi Arabia crown Prince to arrive in India on February 19
New Delhi: Saudi Prince, Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud is all set to visit India with his delegation of ministers and senior officials, on February 19. During the visit the Prince will inaugurate the new embassy complex in New Delhi, and also further strengthen India-Saudi energy cooperation besides emphasizing enhancement of ties across several areas, including IT, health and tourism.
The trade analysts are seeing Salman’s visit as a significant turning point in both the country’s relation. In 2016, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Riyadh, where he was honoured with the ‘Sash of King Abdulaziz’, the highest civilian decoration awarded by the kingdom.
Saudi Arabia is not only a major energy security provider for India but it is also India’s fourth largest trade partner (after China, US and Japan).
In 2017-18, India-Saudi bilateral trade increased by 9.56 % to $27.48 billion.
Israeli PM, Benjamin Netanyahu is also slated to visit India this month, however, India and Israel have not yet been able to find a mutually convenient date for his visit even though the Indian government wishes to host him.
