At least one killed and 25 injured in terrorist attack on AUA


Kabul: At least one person was killed while 25 others were injured after terrorists launched an attack on the American University of Afghanistan (AUA) in western Kabul on Wednesday.

“A university guard has been killed in the attack and a foreign professor was among the injured,” said Hedayatullah Stanikzai, a Ministry of Public Health official.

According to a local news channel, many students as well as foreign staffers were trapped inside classrooms after the attack began in late evening hours. “Security teams were carrying out operation to track down the militants,” said Kabul police Spokesman Sediq Seddiqi.

Other highlights:

  • The gunshots were stopped but the area was still being swept by the security forces.
  • The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital.
