Indore: In a tremendous bowling performance, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wrapped up the mighty Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for mere 88 runs in Indian Premier League (IPL 2018) at the Holkar Cricket Stadium here on Monday.
Umesh Yadav was on song with the ball as he picked up three wickets for 23 runs in four overs. Colin de Grandhomme and Yuzvendra Chahal bowled two overs each and picked up a wicket for eight and six runs, respectively.
Moeen Ali conceded 13 runs in 2.1 overs and also got a wicket while Mohammed Siraj conceded 17 runs in three overs for 1 wicket. Tim Southee was the only bowler who could not pick any wickets and went for 19 runs in 2 overs.
KXIP once again got off to a decent start with openers Lokesh Rahul (21 off 15, 3 sixes) and Chris Gayle (18 off 14, 4 fours) adding 36 runs off only 4.3 overs.
None of the upcoming batsmen, however, could get into rhythm as only Aaron Finch (26 off 23, 1 four, 2 sixes) could get into double figures. The next highest scorer after these three batsmen was Axar Patel who scored 9 runs off 13 balls and remained unbeaten.
Chasing a target as low as 89 runs should be a cakewalk for aa formidable batting lineup like RCB.
