Mathura: Uttar Pradesh Police, on Saturday, arrested six people, including main accused Ranga, in connection with the murder of two jewellers in Mathura.
All six of them – Rakesh alias Ranga, Kamesh aka Cheena, Aayush, Chotu, Neeraj and Vishnu, were brought to the Kotwali Nagar police station here after being arrested from Hanuman Gali of Chaubiyapadha locality.
What Senior Superintendent of Police, Vinod Mishra said:
- Our team nabbed the killlers after a hours of gun fight between them and the police.
- One of them named Neeraj has been injured in the firing and has been admitted to the district hospital fortreatment.
- Two inspectors and seven other police officials have also been severely injured in the fight.
- We have also recovered cash and gold worth lakhs of rupees from them.
It may be mentioned that jewellers all across the state went on strike on Friday to protest against the killing of two traders. Members of the All India Jeweller Swarnkar Trade Federation also had a meeting with the ADG (Law and Order) in Lucknow to demand the safety of their community.
What was the case?
On Monday, two bullion traders were shot dead in Mathura by six persons who escaped with gold worth Rs 4 crore.
Two traders, brothers Vikas and Megh Agarwal – were gunned down by six armed persons who entered their shop Mayank Chain, in the Koylawali Gali, in the busy market area of Holi Gate.
It may be mentioned that four policemen including SHO of the City Kotwali police station Surendra Pal Singh and the local outpost in-charge have been suspended on charges of dereliction of duty.
