Explosion in Afghanistan's Kabul kills 30, Taliban claims responsibility

Kabul: At least 30 people were killed and more than 60 others were injured in a twin blast explosion at the Darulaman Road in Kabul on Tuesday.

According to the reports a suicide bomber who was followed by the car bomb blew himself at the entrance of the parliament’s office. The Police immediately cordoned-off the area.

Ambulances were immediately deployed to the area to escort the wounded people to various hospitals in the city.

The attack:

  • The attack had occurred at around 1600 hours on Tuesday.
  • The deceased included the civilians and military people.
  • The car full of explosives was also found near the spot.
  • The Taliban claimed the responsibility of the attack and said “We claim credit for the attack on civilians and we are proud of it.”

What officials said?

The Ministry of Interior issued a statement saying, “Probe has been launched and details regarding the attack would be shared with the public as soon as possible.”

“The interior ministry of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan strongly condemns the barbaric attack by the Taliban terrorists and prays for those killed in the attack (that they) rest in peace and for the recovery of those wounded,” the statement read.
