Lucknow: The great-grand-alliance of Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati is likely to disturb Modi and Amit’s equanimity as they addressed a joint press conference, here on Saturday Lucknow.

Addressing the press conference, Mayawati said, “The people in UP are upset with the policies of the BJP. Our alliance has tasted success in the bypolls elections in the state. The success of our alliance can help stop the BJP from forming the government at the Center.”

The top leaders of both the parties announced the formalization of the alliance. Out of 80 seats, SP and BSP will fight on 38-38 seats, whereas, 2 seats of Amethi and Rae Barielly are kept for Congress while leftover 2 seats for others.

“Around the 1990’s, the BJP’s casteist and communal agenda over the Ayodhya issue came to the fore and the people were too affected and in a similar situation, right now 1 crore people in UP are fed up of the dictatorial attitude of the BJP state and central governments,” Mayawati said.

During the press conference, Mayawati also attacked Congress. She said that Congress, despite being the grand old party, has failed to remove corruption and poverty from India.

She further said that Congress and BJP at the Center are one of the same things. Mayawati blamed Congress and BJP for a large number of scams, including Bofors and Rafale.

Moreover, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav said that he supports Mayawati for the PM post.

Apart from this, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee welcomed the alliance of the SP and the BSP for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The press conference held at Hotel Taj was Akhilesh Yadav’s first joint press conference since his 2017 joint address with Congress chief Rahul Gandhi for the assembly elections.

Akhilesh said, “Want to thank Mayawati ji for accepting this coalition. We have decided to join hands to wipe out the BJP from UP. The BJP has made UP only about caste and they should understand that our alliance is not for political reasons, but we will also fight against the communal hatred spread by the BJP.”

He further said that from the last 5 years BJP has only promoted hatred. The party wanted to divide the people on communal lines. Uttar Pradesh is the land of Lord Ram where BJP has brought hardships for the people. People are being killed in encounters. Patients at hospitals are admitted based on their castes.
