It is worth mentioning, ND Tiwari, aka Narayan Dutt Tiwari, is the only politician in Indian history to have served as the CM to two different states – UP and Uttarakhand. He remained the CM of UP thrice while became the CM to Uttarakhand once in 2002.

He had also served Minister of External Affairs during the regime of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. He was the Governor of Andhra Pradesh from 2007 to 2009, he, however, was forced to step down following the revelation of a sex racket.

After having a long run with the Congress, he along with his son Rohit Shekhar Tiwari joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) earlier in 2017 in presence of party chief Amit Shah.

Tiwari shot to fame in political circles when Indira Gandhi chose him to replace Veer Bahadur Singh as the UP CM in 1976.
